The Blunter Brothers, a Classic Funk, Soul and Mowtown band are playing at East Court Meridian Hall on Saturday 7th November. Doors open at 6pm with the band starting around 7pm. Finish time will depend on government restrictions at the time.
We have been working hard with the town council, the band and our team to find a covid secure way of bringing you live entertainment again. This does mean some changes to keep everyone safe including:
- A seated event with table service for both food and drink.
- A much reduced capacity with carefully measured spacing between each ‘bubble’ (table) to keep everyone safe.
- We’ll be asking you to stay at your tables and within your bubbles throughout the show.
- We’ll be asking you (unless exempt) to wear a mask as you enter and exit the venue and if you need to move around during the show.
- Use of masks, screens and visors by staff, additional cleaning and protocols.
- Use of drum screens on stage.
- Increased ventilation in the venue to ensure fresh air.
Whilst like you, we are concerned about the increased cases and new measures that may need to be brought in, we are encouraged that our plans already follow the guidance being brought into law. We are also encouraged that the case numbers in Mid Sussex have remained well below the national average due to the diligence of businesses and the public locally. In the unlikely event we couldn’t go ahead we would at that point issue refunds on the face value of your tickets.
If you would like to join us for food pre-show, please book a separate food ticket (priced at £9.95 per person) in addition to your entry ticket and make your choice from the menu of Curry or Chilli options.
The band covers all the hits from artists such as James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Curtis Mayfield, The Average White Band and many more. Originally from Sussex, The Blunter Brothers formed way back in 1989 and has become established as one of the premiere ‘Revue’ acts in the country. The band was headhunted to play the Hammersmith Apollo for comedian Stephen K Amos’ nationwide tour finale and is the only band to have been asked to play at the BBC sports personality of the year after show party. In fact, they were asked back and did it two years in a row.
Dave Baxter, manager of the Blunter Brothers, said “The band is really looking forward to playing at this great venue. We know that there are lots of Funky people in and around East Grinstead and this is a great chance to see an old school band playing Classic Funk, Soul and Motown the way it used to be. Members of the Blunter Brothers have worked with, amongst others, Sir Elton John, Sir Cliff Richard, Joan Armatrading, Mica Paris, Nelly Furtado, Joss Stone, Tears For Fears, Heather Small (M People) and Macy Gray!
Mr Pee Wee Ellis, James Brown’s sax player/MD/Co-composer from the 60’s said about the Blunter Brothers: “Played a great gig with The Blunter Brothers last weekend. Nice camaraderie between the guys and a good vibe in the evening”.
Hollie Farris, Mr Brown’s trumpeter/bandleader from the 80’s said about the Blunter Brothers: “When I started listening to the tracks, I thought it was a recording of us 20 years ago! You guys really nailed it. Good, tight band”.
If you fancy a Funky Good Time (and a Boogie!), this is one not to be missed.
A fully licensed bar and street food will be available on the night.
